Polishing and FluorideRubber-cup polishing is done after scaling using a slow-speed dental handpiece, a prophy angle with a rubber cup, and prophy paste. It is effective for removal of extrinsic tooth stains, has good patient acceptance, and is easy to learn and perform. You will see an actual patient having their teeth polished with emphasis on complete removal of interproximal plaque. These videos also demonstrate professionally applied topical fluoride using the tray technique for in-office fluoride treatment using foam. Equipment needed is fluoride, trays, timer, saliva ejector, tissues, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Midterms are over so we have reached the half-way point in the semester. It is important to focus on what you accomplished and not get discouraged by the amount of work that is still to be done. A famous quote to think about is: “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.” by Abraham Lincoln. We only have 6 more weeks so “just keep swimming” as a wise Junior once said. More News
